Alright, Denverites, we need to have a very serious discussion. Are you sitting down? Good… Let’s begin. Do you have an emergency plan for if/when zombies invade the state? If you have your plan of attack, you probably already know that Live Science reported that the Rocky Mountains are the best place to hide “because it is so inaccessible and so few people live there.” Unfortunately, there may not be time to get to the Rockies before being mauled to death by the living dead, so here are 7 other places to hide in Denver in the event of a zombie apocalypse:
1.) The Broker Restaurant (LoDo)
Housed inside the old Denver National Bank building, this elegant steakhouse is the perfect place to hide in the event of a zombie attack. Simply request a table inside the old bank vault, lock the door, and wait it out with the Broker's famous shrimp cocktail!
2.) The Tower of Doom at Elitches (LoDo)
I dare any zombie to try to climb the giant 200-foot-tall Tower of Doom to get to you!
3.) Casa Bonita (Lakewood)
...because not even a zombie would be caught dead (har, har) eating whatever it is they serve at Casa Bonita.
4.) Castle Marne Bed & Breakfast (Capitol Hill)
Built with a strong and sturdy native lava stone, this Richardsonian Romanesque castle would be the perfect safe house for you and your family! (Added bonus: The rooms are beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious, so the experience wouldn't be too devastating.)
5.) Farm
In the event of a long standoff with the living dead, we recommend traveling either north or east of the city, which is home to beautiful wide open spaces and lush farm land. Though it will take a little work, we suggest building a large, fenced-in home with a self-sustainable garden to help you ride out these times of uncertainty.
6.) Jail or prison
Sure, the accommodations at the Denver County Jail and/or Denver Women's Correctional Facility are less-than-desirable, but we can guarantee that no zombie will be able to get to you through the cell's narrow slits.
7.) Hidee Gold Mine (Central City)
It's a little bit of a drive to get here, but well worth it, as the Hidee Gold Mine is a large and structurally sound dwelling that only requires a small man-made barricade at the front entrance to keep out uninvited, man-eating guests.
