The weather here in Denver has been absolutely glorious, which can only mean one thing… it is time to get outside and go camping! If you are ready to rough it but can’t travel too far from the city, you will love this Denver-area campground that is nothing short of beautiful:
Located in Littleton, Chatfield State Park is a large 3,895-acre park that features both wide open spaces and gorgeous views of the nearby mountains.
Known for its 1,500-acre reservoir, Chatfield is a mere 40 minute drive from the heart of Denver, but still seems like a secluded oasis, making it the perfect place to visit without any excessive driving.
With its large and beautiful lake, Chatfield is the perfect spot for water sports (boating, anyone?), but boasts a number of other unique attractions like...
...biking (via 26 miles of bike trails)...
...horseback riding...
...and even hot air ballooning!
While we love nearly every aspect of Chatfield, our favorite part of all would have to be the stellar camping opportunities!
With nearly 200 campsites (all with hookups) and ten group camp areas, there is truly something for everyone at this Denver-area treasure.
Chatfield State Park's office is located at 11500 N. Roxborough Park Road in Littleton and is open daily. For more information on available campsites and pricing, please visit the Colorado Parks and Wildlife's website .
