Summer may not officially be here for another month, but these warm temperatures have us craving the seasonal picnics, trips to the lake, and less-is-more attire that goes hand-in-hand with this time of year. Do you want to know what else we are excited to do? We are excited to go camping at one (or all) of these 7 picture-perfect places around Denver:
1.) Cherry Creek State Park (Aurora)
Who says that you have to travel far off the beaten path to find a gorgeous place to camp? Located just minutes from the city, this Aurora favorite features not only great places to camp, but a swimming beach, stellar fishing, and even hiking trails!
2.) Cold Springs Campground (Black Hawk)
You know Black Hawk for its history, casino, and buffets, but did you know that the area is also home to gorgeous camping spots? Take, for instance, the Cold Springs Campground, which is located less than two hours from Denver and is home to stunning views like these.
3.) Jones Pass Road (Idaho Springs)
Okay, rustic campers: this one is for you! Jones Pass Road -- which is popular amongst hikers and bikers -- makes for a pretty spectacular place to pitch a tent, thanks to both the scenes around Arapaho National Forest and the seclusion that comes with this large area.
4.) Chatfield State Park (Littleton)
Located in the Denver suburb of Littleton, Chatfield State Park is a Denver go-to for anything relating to water sports (take one look at their lake and you will understand why)... but until you have pitched a tent at their "safe and peaceful" campground, you have yet to really experience this Colorado gem!
5.) Moraine Park Campground (Estes Park)
Is this picture giving you major campground envy? Don't worry; this can be you when you pitch a tent (or park your RV) at this gorgeous Rocky Mountain National Park campground!
6.) Denver East / Strasburg KOA (Strasburg)
Are you ready to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city? We suggest checking out the beautiful Denver East / Strasburg KOA; a lovely campground on the rolling plains that offers places to pitch a tent, hook up your RV, or even rent a comfortable cabin!
7.) Starlite Classic Campground (Canon City)
We wouldn't be doing our due diligence if we didn't tell you about the quirky and fabulous Starlite Campground, which features vintage campers like a 1957 New Moon, 1962 Tepee, and 1966 Streamline Countess! (Girl's trip, anyone?)
