While you can get a deliciously simple vanilla or chocolate cupcake at most bakeries in Denver, many true devotees have moved on to a new level of cupcake cuisine. What seems to be getting cupcake-craving customer’s attention these days are the out-of-the box (but not literally) flavors with detailed touches to top it all off. I’m about to let you in on 10 little cupcake treasures around town that will impress you with their unique flavors and quality ingredients. Don’t worry… your sweet tooth can thank me later.
1. Buttercream Bakeshop (129 Adams St.)
You may recognize this small, family-run bakeshop by its original name, Big Fat Cupcake, from when it first opened in 2008. 3. Church of Cupcakes
The Church of Cupcakes has welcomed a whole congregation of fans who love their divine cupcakes that are baked fresh to order in small batches using only organic and locally sourced ingredients. While they no longer have a retail storefront (just call in or make an online order), you can book the original cupcake tricycle or the 1976 Volkswagen Bus for your next group function. You will love the assortment of heavenly gourmet treats including the "Devil's Food" cupcake (rich chocolate cake under chocolate buttercream) or the "Bee-titude" (lavender-blessed cake with honey-lemon buttercream). I don't know about you, but I kind of feel like shouting "Amen" after hearing their list of flavors.
