1. Parade of Lights
Watch in awe as marching bands and floats glowing with lights make their way through the streets of downtown Denver at the Parade of Lights. This is the 43rd year for this annual event which is free, with the option of purchasing grandstand seat tickets for a closer view. The parade begins at the Denver City and County Building and takes place December 1st at 8 p.m. and December 2nd at 6 p.m.
2. Denver City & County Building
Speaking of this remarkable building that serves as the starting point for the Parade of Lights, the illuminated City and County Building is a sight to behold in and of itself and will be aglow nightly for your enjoyment. You can find this breathtaking light display at 1437 Bannock Street.
3. Denver Union Station
This historic structure will shine brightly in LoDo throughout December with magical colored lights. Denver's Union Station is located at 1701 Wynkoop Street.
4. Blossoms of Light
Each year, Denver Botanic Gardens transforms into a magical winter wonderland covered in twinkling lights. Blossoms of Light features a large field with sound reactive, animated LED lights and offers live entertainment, tasty holiday treats, and warm drinks to those who visit. This event is open through January 1, including December 24, 25, and 31.
5. Santa's Village at Chatfield Farms
Previously named Trail of Lights, Denver Botanic Garden's Chatfield location offers holiday lights galore as well as an opportunity to meet Santa's reindeer, take a picture with Santa, and make crafts with Mrs. Claus. You won't want to miss the chance to go on a hayride, or check out the local vendors at this event which is open to the public until December 24 on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays from 4:30-8:30 p.m.
6. Denver Zoo Lights
Come to the zoo to view illuminated animated sculptures in their 60-acre display at Denver Zoo Lights. In addition to the amazing lights, you can even spot select animals, enjoy food and drink, and even have the chance to meet Santa himself. Denver Zoo Lights takes place December 1-31.
7. Lakewood Lights
Lakewood's annual free holiday celebration features the Mayor's tree lighting ceremony at the Heritage Center that will be all lit up for this special event. In addition to exploring the illuminated area, visitors can take a ride on a tractor-pulled wagon ride, listen to holiday music performed live, have a photo taken with Santa, and enjoy hot cocoa and cookies. Lakewood Lights takes place December 1 & 2 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
8. A Hudson Christmas
This magical Littleton tradition offers visitors to Hudson Gardens the opportunity to walk along the festively decorated outdoor path and take in the thousands of twinkling lights that surround them. Children of all ages can also visit with Santa and sip on hot chocolate at this event which takes place on select evenings in December from 5-8 p.m.
9. Olde Golden Christmas
On December 1st at 6 p.m., residents of Golden come together to walk through the town holding lit candles and singing Christmas Carols. This is followed by Santa and Golden's major turning on the beautiful lights of the town.
