Quite possibly one of the most enchanting of hikes near Denver is that of St. Mary's Glacier; a short and sweet three-quarters of a mile hike that will make you feel like you're a million miles away from the ordinary! During your trek, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the trail's surrounding prehistoric-looking trees, waterfalls, and lush meadows.
2.) Roxborough State Park, Littleton

You know all there is to know about the colorful Red Rocks and dramatic Garden of the Gods, but did you know that Littleton is home to the stunning 3,339-acre Roxborough State Park? Nestled within Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park (less than two hours from the heart of Denver) lies the incredible Mills Lake Trail; an out-of-this-world 5.3 miles that is considered to be one of the most beautiful hikes in the state! Located just down the road from the Mills Lake Trail lies another must-visit Rocky Mountain National Park gem known as the Glacier Gorge Trail. Spanning a whopping nine miles, Glacier Gorge Trail leads hikers not only past landmarks like the beautiful Alberta Falls, but also the unique Sky Pond and its surrounding Cathedral Spires (pictured), as well as the aptly named Lake of Glass.

What are some of the best kid-friendly hikes around Denver?  

Few things help teach kids the importance of the natural world around them and its beauty than a good hike – at least we think so! Luckily for us, there are plenty of kid-friendly hikes around Denver that both you and the young'uns are sure to love. Among our favorites are local gems like the Bear Lake Nature Trail, which can be found within Rocky Mountain National Park and features epic views of, well, Bear Lake. We recommend a good hike – what better way to explore the amazing natural beauty of Colorado’s capital city than by foot? Some of our favorite scenic hikes in and around Denver include Washington Park Loop, which is nestled in – you guessed it – Washington Park and is both paved and quite easy. Then, head to the William F. Hayden Green Mountain Park and conquer the 6.4-mile, moderately challenging Green Mountain Trail, which features epic views and, during the warmer months, is lush, green, and brilliantly alive. While you’re there, the Green Mountain Novice Loop is another must-try! While you’re at it, be sure to add trails like the Rocky Mountain Lake Park Loop, Cherry Creek Loop, and the Singletree and Mayhoffer Trail to your bucket list too!
