Sure, we’re known for having 300 days of sunshine each year and the snow-capped Rocky Mountains are right in our backyard, but the Mile High City really isn’t all it’s cracked up to be during the winter season. If you’re thinking about visiting Denver during the cold, snowy months of winter, you might want to carefully look over the list of 11 reasons below that illustrate just why our city is downright dreadful this time of year. Read on, and consider yourself warned.
1. First of all, the scenery is just awful during the winter months.
Sadly, there's nothing to see here when it's snowy and cold.
2. Our city becomes really drab and dark.
It's like Denver has gone to sleep for the winter.
3. The cold weather is absolutely brutal.
The frigid temperatures make us all miserable for months at a time. We'd do anything for a warm day around here.
4. We pretty much just stay inside and don't have any fun at all in the winter.
It's really pretty boring.
5. You can't even get out and exercise.
Denver is known as one of the fittest cities in the nation, but that all comes to a halt when winter rolls around.
6. If you do actually get outside, you'll have to apply so much sunscreen.
That pesky sun continues to peak out almost every single day here in the Mile High City. Even in the winter.
7. There's basically no way to get around town.
Consider yourself stuck.
8. It doesn't really matter though, because there is simply nothing to do downtown.
When it's cold, everything pretty much closes down.
9. Even our most popular attractions aren't even worth a second look.
I mean, just look at Red Rocks. Such a sad sight.
10. Don't get excited about spotting any wildlife.
The animals are hibernating. All of them.
11. Our backyard becomes absolutely boring when it snows.
Sure, we've got the majestic Rocky Mountains filled with ski resorts, horse-drawn sleigh rides, tubing hills, hot springs, and winter hiking trails within our reach, but it's really not as great as it sounds.
