Here in Denver, we have some unique habits that we aren’t really in any hurry to break. From the way we dress to the way we eat, locals are proud of these “ways of life” that set us apart from the rest. Check out this list of 10 hard-to-break habits for residents of the Mile High City, and see if you might be guilty of any of them.
1. We use the mountains as a compass.
This does prove to be a little challenging when traveling to other places that are not lucky enough to always have the beautiful Rocky Mountains clearly visible to the west.
2. We primarily wear the colors orange and blue.
Sure, this picture may not depict a typical day in Denver, but it often seems pretty close. Broncos fans are loyal fans and their wardrobe definitely shows it.
3. We can't help but be beer snobs.
Or, should I say beer connoisseurs? Craft breweries are plentiful in the Mile HIgh City and we've definitely tasted our fair share of interesting and unique flavors. If that doesn't make us beer experts, I don't know what does.
4. Rain or shine, we get out there and exercise.
Locals are dedicated to exercise. While this may be one of our healthiest habits, sometimes we can take it to the extreme. A blizzard isn't going to stop us from getting our run in for the day (and to top it off, we'll probably wear shorts just to prove how tough we actually are).
5. We plan our weekends around brunch.
Here in Denver, it's more than a meal. It's an experience.
6. We dip our pizza crust in honey.
We can't help but blame Beau Jo's for this one.
7. We dress in layers.
With this crazy Colorado weather, we have to be ready for anything.
8. We're probably going to order it smothered in green chile.
If Colorado could chose an official "state food," I'm guessing green chile would be at the top of the list. Locals love it ladled on a variety of foods and it's downright impressive how many restaurants in the area have it on their menu.
9. We can't be bothered with using the full names of popular Denver areas.
It seems like we've got a shortened name for most major neighborhoods in the city. We're calling them, LoDo, RiNo, LoHi, NoDo, SoCo, SoBo, etc. Don't expect any more description than that.
10. In our hearts, the Broncos will always play at Mile High.
No matter how often the name/location for Bronco's games changes, we just can't stop calling it by the original name.
