If you know, you know: The Downtown Aquarium in Denver, Colorado, is an impressive exhibit that everyone in the family will enjoy! While it is obviously a crown jewel of Colorado, have you – like me – ever wondered how it compares to other aquariums? According to Always Pets, it fares pretty well and is, in fact, one of the best in America:
According to Always Pets, which studied review sites like Yelp to determine which aquariums were the highest rated in the country, "Downtown Aquarium, Denver is more than just a space for learning — it's an entertainment zone," adding that the attraction has "more than a million gallons of water teeming with 500 species of animals."
Opened in 1999 (and purchased/re-done by Landry's Restaurants in 2005), the Downtown Aquarium is a massive state-of-the-art aquarium that spans 107,000 square feet and features 1,000,000+ gallons of both freshwater and saltwater.
In addition to its 500 species of animals, guests of the Denver Aquarium will discover countless other surprises, including live shows, exhibits with mammals and reptiles alike, a carousel, train ride, theater, and more.
As it is owned by Landy's Restaurants, the Downtown Aquarium also houses a unique restaurant that will make you think you are 10,000 leagues under the sea.
The Downtown Aquarium is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
