The Decaying Historic Town In Colorado That Will Remind You Of A Simpler Time

It is hard to believe that only one hundred years ago, new Colorado towns and communities were popping up at record speeds. One of these towns was the small Dearfield; a predominately African American community that was established in 1910 by Boulder businessman Oliver T. Jackson. Located 30-some miles east of Greeley, Dearfield was an instant success that housed more than 700 residents by 1921. However, just as quickly as the town grew, it collapsed, with the post-Depression population a mere 12 residents.
All that remains of this Colorado Registered Historic Landmark today are a few decaying, albeit beautiful buildings, shown here in photos posted by Abandoned Colorado:
