In the summertime when the temperatures are high, there is nothing quite like taking a stroll along a tranquil waterfront. If a winding trail with scenes like streams, animals, and various habitats is your idea of heaven (as it is mine), you are going to love this one-of-a-kind Colorado waterfront trail:
The Colorado Riverfront Trail, located along the Western Slope, has been an ongoing regional project to create a fantastic public trail system running from Palisade to Fruita.
The Colorado Riverfront Trail is comprised of several segments of different trails.
In total, the trail is about 20 miles long, however, it's easy to hop on and off wherever you like so you can choose the distance you'd like to hike or bike.
The route passes through several points of interest, including James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park, Walter Walker State Wildlife Area, Clifton Nature Park, and the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens, as well as several beautiful bridges crossing the river.

The trail features both the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers...
In addition to the trails and scenery, the Colorado Riverfront Trail is the setting for unique events, including summer concerts, special classes, and more.
