With Halloween a little more than a month away, it is the perfect time to begin telling spooky, frightening, and sometimes downright disturbing ghost stories. If you are in need of a new tale to tell that hits close to home, listen carefully to one of the most terrifying ghost stories to ever come out of Colorado:

The year was 1877 and the newly incorporated town of Georgetown was growing in popularity with both the nearby silver boom and railroad stops. It was also the year Robert Schamle went on his infamous robbery and murder crime spree.

As described by witness accounts, Schamle had been arrested in Las Animas before admitting to the murders of both his boss and Georgetown's beloved butcher, whom he then robbed for $80. Schamle was then transported back to Georgetown, where a grizzly fate awaited him.
