Merry Christmas, Colorado! Your stockings have been hung by the chimney with care and were (hopefully) filled to the brim last night by Santa! Want to know what Santa brought the entire state of Colorado this year? Well, for starters:
1. A new National Monument
On February 19, 2015, President Obama issued a proclamation creating the Browns Canyon National Monument in Chaffee County.
2. An epic Garth Brooks concert
Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood visited Denver's Pepsi Center during their latest world tour.
3. One smelly flower
Coloradoans stood in line for hours at a time just to get a whiff of the potent "corpse flower", which was being housed at the Denver Botanic Gardens.
4. A slew of new businesses
From craft breweries to real estate ventures to unique boutiques, Colorado saw its fair share of new businesses in 2015. (Pictured is a brew from Denver's new Little Machine Beer.)
5. Another 365 days of beauty throughout the state
No matter your whereabouts, you're guaranteed beautiful sights, sounds, smells, and colors! (Pictured is Rocky Mountain National Park.)
6. Rain
This year alone, Colorado saw record amounts of rain that wiped out the drought and caused...
7. Fewer wildfires
See: Rain.
8. Several memorable visits to the spectacular Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve...
9. ...glorious Maroon Bells...
10. ...exciting Black Hawk...
11. ...and the colorful Paint Mines.
12. An almost Heisman Trophy Award winner
Christian McCaffrey, son of former Bronco Ed McCaffrey, was a runner-up for the 2015 Heisman Trophy. The Stanford running back lost to Alabama's Derrick Henry.
13. A stellar backup quarterback
When Peyton is away (AKA injured), Brock will play!
14. Jobs
15. An NCAA title
This year, the University of Denver Pioneers male lacrosse team defeated Maryland to become the first ever NCAA men's lacrosse champion from outside the Eastern Time Zone.
