In Colorado, it’s tempting to try to find a mountain for an unforgettable sunrise view. While there’s no doubt those alpine vistas are stunning, you don’t have to drive to the mountains for your sunrise photography session. Denver’s City Park is much more accessible and just as beautiful.

At 330 acres, City Park is Denver’s largest green space. It boasts wide-open meadows and unobstructed views of the city’s skyline and the Rocky Mountains in the background.

There’s more to City Park than just the view. The park is home to some of the city’s most popular cultural amenities. You could plan to be in the park for sunrise and then visit the Denver Zoo as soon as it opens.

You could also visit the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, which features a dinosaur fossil exhibit and an IMAX screen.

Being out and about this early also puts you in a good spot to grab breakfast along trendy Colfax Avenue only a few blocks away, including at the Denver Biscuit Company. Their breakfast sandwiches look to die for.

City Park also features historical monuments, playgrounds, and seasonal pedal boat rentals. The park is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. As the park is in the middle of a city, and visiting for the sunrise involves being out at night, it’s a good idea to avoid going alone.
