These May Just Be The 6 Biggest Myths About Colorado
We hate to burst your bubble, but… everything you thought you knew may actually be a lie! Okay, so maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but what if we told you that several things you thought you knew about Colorado may actually be a false? Take, for instance, these six myths about Colorado that will change the way you look at everything:

The Sunshine State. The Mount Rushmore State. The Mile High State. Right? Wrong! Despite the common misconception, Colorado is, in fact, the Centennial State, as it joined the Union in 1876, 100 years after the country's inception.

That's right, folks; the city itself isn't quite 5,280 feet above sea level, but the 13th step of the State Capitol Building in Denver is! (On another note though, unlike Colorado, Denver actually is nicknamed the Mile High City.)

I, for one, am SHOCKED about this one (especially since I have bragged about it here in the past)! First claimed in the 1870s by a railroad company trying to get people to migrate west, Colorado only receives around 115 days of sunshine each year, which is less than HALF of what we originally thought!

Say it ain't so, Deer Trail! While it has never been officially confirmed, there is much debate as to who really hosted the world's first rodeo, with Santa Fe, NM; Pecos, TX; Prescott, AZ; and Deer Trail all claiming the title. (Don't worry, Deer Trail - we know it was you!)

First Deer Trail, now THIS?! Way to kick us when we're down, huh? We have been told time and again that the cheeseburger was invented by Denver's Humpty Dumpty Drive-In owner Louis Ballast, but while he trademarked the name, it is speculated he did not actually invent the beefy goodness.
