The Centennial State is home to native wildlife that roams freely along the mountains and plains, but did you know that we have our fair share of more exotic animals, too? Thanks to our beautiful zoos, we can experience these creatures firsthand, including those at this award-winning exhibit:
Welcome to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and its can't-miss Rocky Mountain Wild exhibit!
Located in Colorado Springs, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a nationally known zoo that has received countless awards and recognition, thanks to its landscape, events, and - of course - exhibits.
While you cannot go wrong with any part of the Zoo, USA Today's 10Best has dubbed Cheyenne Mountain's Rocky Mountain Wild as one of its Best Zoo Exhibit Winners, and for a good reason.
According to 10Best, Rocky Mountain Wild is one that you cannot afford to miss, as the " 3-acre exhibit is home to moose wandering amid pine woods with their own small lake, mountain lions in a naturalistic rock canyon, the elusive Canada lynx, river otters playing in a waterfall and grizzly bears roaming the mountainside."
In addition to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, 10Best also pays homage to other exhibits like the Asian Highlands (Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo), Land of the Tiger (Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens), and the California Trail (Oakland Zoo, pictured).
