Are you, like me, a fan of the outdoors but have yet to tackle a hike that is either long or strenuous? While many Colorado trails contain long distances or steep inclines, there are just as many that are somewhat short and sweet, including this easy fall hike in Colorado that is just two miles long:
Welcome to the Fountain Valley Trail!
Located a hop, skip, and a jump away from Denver in Roxborough State Park, Fountain Valley is a 2.2-mile hike that is a favorite among adults and children alike, thanks to its even terrain and minimal elevation gain.
Okay, so it is technically over 2 miles long, but trust me: If I think this hike is short, sweet, and manageable, so will you!
Known for its dramatic 300-million-year-old rock formations, Roxborough is a must-visit for locals and tourists alike, thanks to not only its unique formations but its fascinating history.
Psst... The formations at Roxborough are said to have covered numerous eras, including the Precambrian, Cretaceous, and Pennsylvanian!
In addition to the even terrain and stunning formations, the Fountain Valley Trail also boasts fields of wildflowers, ample wildlife sightings, and beautiful fall colors, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled at all times!
Admission to Roxborough State Park is $10 per vehicle per day.
