Are you looking for the BEST place to enjoy the changing fall colors? Luckily, you cannot go wrong with nearly any area in Colorado, but there is one place, in particular, that is being called not only the best in the state but in the country, which is the charming mountain town of Snowmass Village:
"Just west of Aspen lies the unbelievably beautiful town of Snowmass Village," begins Travel + Leisure, noting that "the village is known for its year-round recreation and ubiquitous aspen trees, which make a stunning (albeit short) shift from fluttering green to bright yellow and orange with hints of red."
In addition to the colors themselves, the article mentions different ways to get out and explore the foliage, citing a backpacking trip to Snowmass Lake or a walk around Crater Lake trail -- "which takes you past two beautiful (and in the fall, colorful) high-alpine lakes."
As well as Snowmass Village, Travel + Leisure also notes other must-visit towns across America, including Taos, New Mexico; Lake Placid, New York; and Port Townsend, Washington (pictured).
Incorporated in 1977, Snowmass Village is a famous ski destination that, unlike other winter resort towns, offers something for every other season, too!
