During the mid-20th century, drive-in restaurants were all the rage, as these delicious, home-cooked joints offered homemade fare paired with quick yet friendly service. While non-chain drive-in restaurants are harder to find in this day and age, there are still a few left in Colorado, including:
Do you think that most drive-ins serve burgers and burgers only? If so, you have never been to Lee's! Opened in 1938, Lee's offers both drive-in AND dine-in service, meaning you can enjoy their famous BBQ, Mexican fare, or chile fries (pictured) from the comfort of your car or inside their old-fashioned dining room.
When northern Colorado craves a drive-in burger, they know where to go: the iconic JB's Drive-In in Greeley! Started as Jess' Sandwich Shop in 1937, JB's offers everything from mouthwatering fried chicken baskets to sandwiches and burgers to ice cream and pie. Yum!
With a name like Burger Boy, you KNOW it has to be good, right? Since 1959, Burger Boy has lived up to its name and has since acquired a loyal following of foodies who cannot get enough of the drive-in's steak sandwiches, burgers, and breakfast entrees.
While literally everything at Cy's is ridiculously good, it is their dessert that takes the "cake" for us, thanks to their creamy soft serve and other treats like sundaes, cyclones, and banana splits.
Everyone who has visited Vicco's loves it... and for good reason! Opened in 1953, Vicco's is known both near and far for their namesake charcoal burger, which consists of your choice of 1/3 pound Angus beef, turkey, elk, veggie, or buffalo. (Psst... don't forget to order a side of homemade onion rings! You can thank us later.)
