When it comes to warm weather fun, there is no beating Colorado’s lakes, rivers, and reservoirs… but have you ever thought to visit during the winter? If you haven’t, you are missing out on a whole other side to these majestic bodies of water, like this Colorado reservoir that manages to become even more beautiful in the winter:
Located on the Gunnison River is the beautiful Curecanti National Recreation Area; a 43,095-acre paradise that provides Colorado with some of its best landscape in the state.
Constructed in the 1960s, Curecanti National Recreation Area is comprised of three different man-made reservoirs that are a popular summer spot for fishing, boating, kayaking, and more!
While Curecanti is obviously a summertime hot spot, it is often overlooked this time of year - which is a shame, as it still boasts some of the best hiking opportunities in the state.
See what we mean?
While you cannot go wrong with visiting any of the three reservoirs at Curecanti, Morrow Point is our absolute favorite. The 817-acre artificial reservoir looks like something out of a Thomas Kinkade painting come winter.
Once again, see what we mean?
Curecanti National Recreation Area is open year round, so make plans to enjoy it every season!
