If you are a longtime reader of Only in Colorado, you know that I LOVE me some antiquing! If you are like me and can’t resist the treasure hunt that comes with finding a great deal on a beautiful piece, you are going to adore this Colorado street that is one of the best in the world in terms of antiquing:
Located in Denver is the charming Antique Row; a true treasure trove of different antique shops and art galleries housed in some of the city's oldest and most historic buildings.
Situated just off I-25 and S. Broadway, Antique Row consists of more than 100 merchants across seven city blocks, making for the perfect place to spend an entire weekend of perusing.
What kinds of stores and treasures can you expect to find on your hunt? For starters, there are shops like the beautiful Turn of the Century Antiques.
Located at 1475 S Broadway, Turn of the Century is truly a Doll Heaven, complete with thousands of historic dolls, teddy bears, and an award-winning dollhouse (via Westword's Best of Denver). As if this wasn't reason enough to visit, Turn of the Century has more than 40 years of retail experience and a friendly staff to boot.
You don't want to miss Gallagher Books.
Talk about heaven on earth! The shop at 1454 S Broadway "offers a comfortable setting to browse an interesting general stock displayed on antique fixtures including 100-year-old cast iron bookshelves from Denver’s original Carnegie Library." We could get lost in here for hours!
Make a pitstop at Maria Empanadas.
After all of this shopping, it's time for a break, which is where Maria Empanadas comes in! The authentic Spanish cafe, located at 1298 S Broadway, serves up not only the best empanadas in Colorado, but also made-from-scratch cakes, salsas, and tortillas. Yum!
Once you're refueled, head onward to Finders Keepers.
Talk about a treasure trove! Finders Keepers (located at 1451 S Broadway) boasts an incredible 1,200 square feet of fine china, furniture, royal commemoratives, and anything else you could possibly imagine.
As if the shops themselves were not reason enough to visit, Antique Row also hosts a number of special events, so be sure to visit their website and check out the events calendar before you go!
