I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
We don’t know about you, but we are looking forward to spring. And what better way to kick off the season than with a refreshing hike featuring a serene lake and pretty wildflower blooms. If you agree with us, then let’s trek the Lake Wedington Shore Trail near Fayetteville. At 3 miles long, it is the perfect hike to welcome the warmer weather. Dotted with colorful blooms and natural Ozark vistas, this wildflower trail in Arkansas belongs on your list this year. So, dust off those hiking boots, and let’s go!
Welcome to Lake Wedington, a gorgeous 102-acre lake tucked inside the Ozark National Forest, and it’s one of Arkansas’ best kept secrets.
The lake is a haven for fishing, swimming, kayaking, and more. In the warmer months, it’s surrounded by lush hardwoods, pines, and pretty little wildflowers.
If you love mountain biking, we recommend the 7-mile North Twin trail. But for today, we’ll be hiking the Lake Wedington Shore Trail to see the lovely blooms as well as the scenic lake.
Beyond the wildflowers, there’s a flowing waterfall that is a nice little treat on this hike. It’s also a great spot to rest and fully immerse yourself in nature.
So, let’s kick off the spring with this enchanting hike in the Ozarks.
