Petit Jean, Devil’s Den, or Mount Magazine may be the some of the first state parks that come to mind when thinking about Arkansas but by no means is this the end of the list! Some of the more underrated state parks, like today’s feature, are worth an entry to your Natural State bucket list. The spillway dubbed Arkansas’ Little Grand Canyon is probably the most noteworthy feature of White Oak Lake State Park. However, this geological wonder is just the beginning of this state park’s discoverable treasure! Let’s head south and explore this gorgeous lakeside park.
Encompassing over 700 acres of beautiful hills and endless forested canopy, White Oak Lake State Park is a dreamy escape in Arkansas.
The park showcases Arkansas’ West Gulf Coastal Plain region found near the southern border. White Oak Lake State Park is near Bluff City and conveniently located a few miles away from Poison Spring Battleground State Park.
One of our favorite features of the state park is a small treasure known as the Little Grand Canyon.
The artistic sculpture carved through the land is a result of millions of years of erosion. Although not quite as official as the Little Grand Canyon in Jasper, this spillway is still a sight to see! The area is quite reminiscent of Arizona's natural wonder, albeit on a much smaller scale.

After you've explored the Little Grand Canyon you can pitch a tent for a night or two.
Tent camping and RVing are welcomed at the state park. There are 45 sites to pick from that all surround White Oak Lake. Be sure to stop by the Visitor Center for educational exhibits and details about the park.
Both are welcomed to spend the day in or around the lake. The marina has an assortment of rentals from 16-ft. fishing boats to cozy pedal boats for two. Fishers will find a plethora of largemouth bass and catfish in addition to the occasional crappie or bluegill.
Adventures can be discovered both on and off the water.
The state park has over 15 miles of trail zigzagging through the forest, including multi-use trails for mountain bikers. Bikes can be rented from the Visitor Center for some spontaneous trailblazing, too!
No matter how you want to spend your weekend, White Oak Lake State Park can provide plenty of peaceful respite.
