J.B. Weisenfels has lived in rural Arkansas for three decades. She is a writer, a mom, and a graduate student. She is also an avid collector of tacky fish whatnots, slightly chipped teapots, and other old things. In her spare time she enjoys driving to the nearest creek to sit a while. If you were to visit her, she'd try to feed you cornbread.
Many restaurants in the Natural State are long-standing, and even some that aren’t have some major throwback appeal. Today, however, we’re going to discuss one of the oldest continuously running restaurants in Arkansas. It doesn’t only have throwback appeal, it has actual history. That restaurant is called the White House Cafe and it is located in the town of Camden.
The cafe began as a place where railroad workers could get a good meal at any time of the day or night. These were the days before neon signs, of course.
The cafe has changed hands several times in the 110 years since it’s been around, but its tradition of serving great, home-style food has remained intact.
