I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
When you think about America’s Most Walkable Small Towns, Eureka Springs is perhaps the best example in Arkansas. And while Eureka Springs is the quintessential small town, and it was listed as the most walkable in the state, there’s another city that deserves some recognition. And that town is Magnolia. It has one of the most charming town squares in Arkansas and there are delights around every corner. Grab your most comfortable shoes, and let’s stroll through one of the most walkable small towns in Arkansas.
Founded in 1853, the town of Magnolia was named after the gorgeous blooms that dot the area around the historic town square.
This quaint town is home to Southern Arkansas University as well as the Magnolia Blossom Festival and World Championship Steak Cookoff.
While it’s known for its college and festivals, the town square attracts many visitors every year. It’s sprinkled with restaurants, specialty boutiques and shops, famous murals, iconic bakeries, and more.
They include home decor, jewelry, and clothing stores, as well as specialty boutiques, gifts and antiques shops. And they are all located inside the square.
Naturally, you’ve worked up an appetite after all this walking, so stop by a local favorite, My Kitchen Table, for a good comfort meal.
If you’re craving something sweet, there are a few bakeries in town to grab a treat. But the most notable is Magnolia Bake Shop which is the first bakery in Arkansas.
Of course, it is easy to see why Magnolia is one of the most walkable towns in Arkansas. And there is no doubt that you’ll be delighted and return for another day trip.
So, have you ever walked the town of Magnolia? Tell us in the comments which places you like the best.
