I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
One amazing thing about Arkansas is that we have lots of competitions and festivals that are unique to the state. Each year, these events attract thousands of locals and visitors alike. They include the Cheese Dip Competition, the Duck Calling Contest, the Rotary Tiller Race, and so much more. But there’s one event that is so quirky, you won’t find it anywhere else. And that is the Toad Suck Daze Festival and it’s the largest event of its kind. Let’s explore this unique Arkansas event and see what fun awaits.
Welcome to the World Championship Toad Races at the Annual Toad Suck Festival in Conway, Arkansas. Perhaps you’ve heard of the unincorporated community of Toad Suck before.
In fact, the 3-day event held during the first week in May, attracts over 150,000 people.

Just like other festivals in Arkansas, you’ll find something for everyone. Admission to this family-friendly event is FREE, and it features live music, food, games, rides, arts and crafts, and so much more.
But what makes this festival so unique are the amphibians. Of course, the toads are the highlight of the event as they are the ones participating in the world championship race.

Prior to the festival, toads are gathered from a nearby creek...
Once the participants select their toads, the hopping events will be on their way. Various toad races are held throughout the weekend, so be sure to check the schedule of events.
As you can see, the contestants are up close and personal with their amphibian pals, as they hold the tiny critters close before the race begins.
Once the race starts, the critters will hop the short distance towards the finish line. What’s even better is that the crowd, as well as the participants, are totally committed to the competition.
Sorry to say, but no, the toads don’t get a trophy. But they do receive an extended stay inside their luxury condo before they are returned to Tucker Creek.
