I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
One thing about Arkansas, we know how to have a good time. Throughout the year, there is always an event happening in a town near you. Whether it’s a holiday festival, a music festival, or a food festival, chances are, you’ve been to many of them. But have you ever been to the Pecan Festival in Keo? If not, then I recommend adding this small-town event to your list this year. With over 10 different attractions, this small-town festival in Arkansas promises to be tons of fun for the entire family. And if you love pecans, then you’re in for the sweetest treat.
Whether you pronounce it pee-can or puh-kahn, you've been invited to the Arkansas Pecan Festival in Keo on Saturday, December 2. And with over 10 family-friendly attractions, you don't want to miss it!
Located 20 miles outside of Little Rock, Keo is a tiny farming community that's known as the "Pecan Capital of Arkansas," so it makes sense that it hosts this nutty festival. As with any small-town event, it's jam-packed with fun activities for the entire family.
And best of all, it's FREE to attend. The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with the Pie Ride, which is a bike race that meanders throughout the town. Be sure to grab your front-row seat to cheer on the participants.
Of course, no festival is complete without live entertainment. Featuring live bands, DJs, choirs, and more, be prepared to dance like nobody is watching.
Perhaps the highlight of the festival is the Pecan Pie Championship and Pecan Cooking Contest. This is where folks will compete for the top prize in various categories.
There will also be lots of food trucks as well as vendors selling handmade goods and yummy treats. Plus, there will be arts and crafts, games, and so much more. With all these attractions, you'll be at this festival all day, so be sure to bring your lawn chair to enjoy a fun day with the family.
Oh, and before I forget, you must say hi to Keodore, the squirrel mascot. You'll absolutely want to take some pics with him to remember your time at this small-town festival in Arkansas.
