More Things To Do In Small-Town Arkansas

What are some things to do in Arkansas?

There are plenty of small towns in Arkansas with fun events, celebrations, and things to do that make them worth exploring. Here are a few things to do in Arkansas you may not have heard about yet:

  • Dig for diamonds in Murfreesboro, AR: In the world's only open-to-the-public diamond mine, you can try your luck digging for riches. It may sound like a long shot, but there have been over 75,000 diamonds found since the mine opened in 1906. And the biggest score was a nice-sized 2.03-carat diamond.
  • Visit Paris in Arkansas: Paris, Arkansas may not be as fancy as the "real" Paris, but you can still see a miniature Eiffel Tower in the town square. On a more morbid note, you can visit the gallows for the last public hanging in Arkansas. This small Arkansas town is filled with history, charming vineyards, and the majestic Mount Magazine State Park.
  • See a historic Victorian village: Eureka Springs, AR is a lovely small town with a truly epic downtown - the whole city is on the National Register of Historic Places. From the beautiful old architecture to the small town shops and restaurants all within walking distance, and even the "most haunted hotel in America," the Crescent Hotel, Eureka is simply a delight to explore.
  • Spend time in a ghost town: Rush, Arkansas was a thriving silver and zinc mining town in the late 1800s, but when the mines dried up, the town did too. From a booming town of 22,000 to a ghost town saved from complete destruction by its addition to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, Rush has lost its luster in all ways but that of a truly fascinating look at a town filled with stories we may never hear.
