Enjoy An Outdoor Nature Lesson Along Arkansas' Schoolhouse Falls Trail
Schoolhouse Falls Trail is a pleasant outdoor nature lesson in Arkansas. No studying needed since after you’ve parked you’re nearly there! We’ll find this gorgeous waterfall in the very far eastern edge of the Ozark National Forest so let’s enjoy the ride as we make our way to Schoolhouse:

This one is north of Hector and isn't nearly as rugged as some of the other routes we've endured to reach waterfall trailheads. Forest Road-1301 (White Oak Mountain Road) will lead to Forest Road-1307 (Wilderness Trail) and take you to the Austin Trailhead.

You can start your adventure here or shave off some time by continuing along a wide ATV trail. The parking coordinates can be found here.

Upper Schoolhouse Falls will be the first waterfall you come across when following the creek.

The waterfall isn't terribly tall (about 20 feet) but it's one you can walk behind!

Both of these waterfalls are downright magical after a recent rain so try to time your hike accordingly!

Be sure to research this area further before taking that first step! Rick's Hiking Blog has wonderfully detailed insight and we always recommend Tim Ernst's guidebooks as well. True Arkansas nature lovers will always follow the Leave No Trace Principles when taking on any trail.
