I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
Now that it’s road trip season, how about we kick it off in the best way? One of the most scenic drives in Arkansas is the Mulberry River Road Scenic Byway and it belongs on your list this year. At only 17 miles long, this drive might be short, but it’s jam-packed with breathtaking water views and tons of adventure along the way. If you’re ready, gas up the car, pack your favorite road trip snacks, and let’s head to the town of Oark to start this scenic waterfront drive in Arkansas.
Between the tiny town of Oark and Cass inside the rugged Boston Mountain Region of the Ozarks, you’ll find AR 215, a byway that meanders along the Mulberry River.
And if you ask us, it’s one of the prettiest drives in Arkansas. As you cruise the highway, you’ll be surrounded with scenic mountain vistas, tree canopies, towering bluffs, and of course, breathtaking views of the river.
Water adventurers, launch your kayak or canoe at the Indian Creek Canoe Launch and enjoy the rapids during the spring. Or if you’re road tripping during the summer, you’ll love wading in the water when the levels are lower.
Anglers can also enjoy fishing for smallmouth bass as the river is stocked with them. Nature lovers, keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife, especially black bears who call the mountainous region home.
Along the way, there are several points of interest, and you’ll want to stop and explore them all. Be sure to stop and read the historical markers to learn more about the area and its development.
Wanna stretch your legs for a bit? About halfway into your drive, stop by the High Bank Twin Falls and take the short hike to see the pretty waterfalls.
Before you get to the town of Cass, pull over at The Mulberry River Scenic Overlook and marvel at the stunning views of the turquoise river as well as the mountains in the backdrop.
Have you driven on Mulberry River Road Scenic Byway before? If so, do you agree with us that this waterfront drive in Arkansas is one of the prettiest drives in Arkansas? Sound off in the comments below.
