About 50 miles southeast of Monticello is the tiny town of Lake Village. With a population of less than 3,000, you may think this town has limited offerings. Not true, my friend! Tourists mostly visit for angler fishing in Lake Chicot, the nation’s largest natural oxbow lake. But besides fishing, this sleepy town does have a best kept secret – Rhoda’s Famous Hot Tamales & Pies. Get your appetite ready as we tour this little stop with a flavor that just can’t be topped.
This unassuming building houses some of the best grub in the delta. Rhoda’s restaurant earned its way into the Arkansas Heritage Food Hall of Fame earlier this year, and you’ll know why after that first bite.
Rhoda has been baking pies for nearly 45 years now. She had the revelation to start selling sweet potato pies from her home to raise money for her church.

There’s a good chance you’ll meet Rhoda while you’re there.
Rhoda, or her daughter Miss Dorothy, will be happy to wrap your tamales to go.
The next time you catch yourself driving through the delta be sure to stop and grab a tamale! Rhoda’s is located at 714 Saint Mary Street, Lake Village.
