J.B. Weisenfels has lived in rural Arkansas for three decades. She is a writer, a mom, and a graduate student. She is also an avid collector of tacky fish whatnots, slightly chipped teapots, and other old things. In her spare time she enjoys driving to the nearest creek to sit a while. If you were to visit her, she'd try to feed you cornbread.
Summer is just around the corner, and if you’re anything like me, you’re probably looking for interesting things to do with your afternoons. One of those options, which doesn’t have to cost you a dime outside of the gas money unless you just can’t resist a bottle or five of wine, is to visit Post Familie Winery near Altus. For its scenic beauty, its list of activities, and its delicious wine, you just can’t do better than a day trip to this winery.
Like many of Arkansas’s wineries, Post Winery is located near Altus, because that wide valley between the Ozarks and the Ouachitas is the perfect place to grow grapes.
Some of their most interesting wine is made from Muscadines, which are native to the southeastern U.S. Post’s Muscadine wine and juice are award-winning.
One thing is for sure: you’ll love your day trip to Post. It’s a gorgeous place to hang out among the grapes and taste some of the best Arkansas wine around.
