There are lots of charming small towns in Arkansas, including Helena. Brimming with history and offering up a unique brand of Delta charm, it is peak Southern vibes, making it the perfect place to get a true taste of the South.
Home to just over 12,000 people, Helena is a quintessential small town, known for its friendly residents and Southern hospitality.
Oozing with Southern vibes, Helena has a rich heritage, which can best be explored at the Delta Cultural Center and the Helena Museum of Phillips County.
It’s not just the town’s museums that bring history to life, though. Helena’s numerous Civil War sites offer a unique “you were there” perspective, telling more than just the typical story.
The blues and the South go together like tea and sugar, so it should come as no surprise that Helena has a deep connection to the genre. In addition to hosting an annual blues fest, Helena is home to America’s longest running radio show dedicated to the blues.
The South is synonymous with wide open spaces and Helena has got plenty of those, too! Not only is it set within the St. Francis National Forest, but it borders the Mighty Mississippi.
