J.B. Weisenfels has lived in rural Arkansas for three decades. She is a writer, a mom, and a graduate student. She is also an avid collector of tacky fish whatnots, slightly chipped teapots, and other old things. In her spare time she enjoys driving to the nearest creek to sit a while. If you were to visit her, she'd try to feed you cornbread.
Arkansas is totally full of charming small businesses, family-owned restaurants, small, locally-owned mountain getaways, and of course, some truly impressive bakeries. One such longstanding and impressive bakeshop is called Community Bakery, and you’ll be delighted by all the delicious baked goods you’ll find in there.
Though it has been owned by several families over the years and has moved to several locations across Little Rock, Community Bakery has been in business since 1947.
The bakery has been in the same location on 12th and Main since 1993, but they’ve got a space in West Little Rock as well. That location can be found at 270 South Shackleford Road in Little Rock.
They’ve had an espresso bar and European-style pastries in their Main Street location since 1993, too. But don’t worry, if you’re after a regular cup of non-latte joe, they’ve got you covered with lots of flavors.
What is most notable about Community Bakery is the delicious baked goods you can get there; it’s those recipes that keep regulars coming back and turn first time visitors into loyal fans.
Community Bakery has the distinction of being named "Best Bakery" in numerous publications, and to believe they’re worth all the hullabaloo, all you need to do is bite into a piece of pie . . .
You really can’t go wrong with anything from Community Bakery, and there are places in their charming shop where you can take a minute to sit and enjoy truly scrumptious baked goods.
Their breakfast options are fairly extensive, and remember that espresso bar I told you about? A latte pairs well with any breakfast item, sweet or savory.
On top of all the bakeshop goods your heart could desire, you’re going to find a lunch menu with lunch options that will make you glad you decided to step out of the office. Quiches and sandwiches and seafood salad on a croissant.
By combining a long history of serving Central Arkansas, a diverse case of pastry offerings, delicious lunch, and beautiful cake-making skills, Community Bakery may just have turned itself into the best little bakeshop in any community.
