The historic downtown square of Fayetteville will once again turn into a winter wonderland with the return of Lights of the Ozarks! For over 20 years, the seasonal event has delighted visitors from all over. This year, although many aspects will remain the same, there will be a few changes due to the pandemic and the need for social and physical distancing.

Lights of the Ozarks has become an annual event since 1994, running for approximately six weeks each year.

To make this event a success, Fayetteville Parks and Recreation workers spend over 3,300 hours stringing up over 400,000 twinkling lights and tirelessly turning the square into a winter wonderland.

This year, the event will take place from November 20, 2020 through January 1, 2021. The dazzling light display will be turned on from 5 p.m. until 1 a.m. each night.

So, sit on your couch and relax with a cup of hot cocoa as you tune in live either on TV or the news channel's website to watch Mayor Jordan flip the switch, illuminating the square!
Although you will have the opportunity to walk around downtown to see the lights over the course of the holidays, several other changes have been made to keep everyone safe.

The yearly Lights of the Ozarks parade has been canceled as well as carriage rides, pony rides, and pictures with Santa.
The number of vendors and programming will also be reduced to keep with social and physical distancing guidelines.
