I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
If I were to ask you about the most haunted place in Arkansas, you’ll probably say the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs. And while the legend of this infamous hotel runs deep in the paranormal world, there’s another allegedly haunted B&B in Arkansas that is worthy of a look. Are you brave enough to spend the night at this rumored haunted bed and breakfast?
Welcome to the Hornibrook Mansion Empress of Little Rock, a gorgeous Victorian mansion built in 1888.
Tucked on the corner of West 22nd and South Louisiana Street, this beautiful four-diamond bed and breakfast was named the fourth most romantic B&B in the country.
And of course, you can see why from the spectacular Gothic Queen Ann Victorian architecture. If you think the outside is stunning, the inside will leave you breathless.
Today, this four-diamond mansion is one of the most romantic B&Bs in the country, and with its exquisite and elegant ambiance, it’s no wonder that many people flock to it.
Of course, no mansion built over a hundred years ago is without local folklore. And there is no shortage of them between the walls of the Empress.
It is rumored that guests have experienced paranormal activities inside the mansion. And according to the previous owner, Sharon Welch Blair, the mansion was built with a lot of “love and revenge.”
And with that much passion tied to a space, chances are there will be strong spirits tied to it as well.
In an interview, Blair described one event where a guest reported hearing footsteps coming towards the room. Then something jiggled the door handle, opened the door but no one was in the doorway.
Other legends have described seeing apparitions in the hallways, the ghost of an African American maid as well as a well-dressed man. Could that be Mr. Hornibrook? Nobody really knows.
These tales are just part of the history and charm of this gorgeous Victorian mansion.
And whether you believe in the paranormal or not, it’s a beautiful B&B to spend the night when you’re in Little Rock.
So, are you brave enough to spend the night at this allegedly haunted B&B in Arkansas? If so, visit the website of this four-diamond bed and breakfast to start planning today.
