I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
We have had a few festivals in Arkansas this year, and they have all been fun for the entire family. But if you haven’t made it to any, you should save the date, and attend the Hope Watermelon Festival this summer. This one-of-a-kind event will celebrate the very essence of Arkansas, and it will be the most fun you will have all year.
The 46th Annual Hope Watermelon Festival kicks off at noon on August 11, 2022, at the Hope Fair Park.
The event is free to attend, but there is a small fee for parking inside the park. With the theme of Rockin It To The Rind, this year’s festival will be bigger and better than ever.
There will be fun and games for the entire family, including the watermelon parade, the 5k melon mile, the car show, the pageant and talent show, and so much more.
No watermelon festival is complete without delicious food. You’ll be able to purchase sliced or whole watermelons as well as watermelon themed desserts.
Additionally, food vendors will be present serving some favorites like burgers, hot dogs, shaved ice, and more.
But the highlight of the festival is the watermelon eating and seed spitting competition. The contestant will test their skills in these fun challenges.
This world-renown festival will attract over 20,000 people from near and far. And don’t be shocked if you see the biggest watermelon that you have ever seen in your life.
In past years, farmers have grown the largest watermelons in the world, landing them a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Finally, at sundown on Saturday August 13, don’t miss the epic concert headlined by Uncle Kracker. Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance online or at the gate.
One thing’s for sure, this event is a must-see for the entire family. Not only is it a fun festival, but it also celebrates the very essence of Arkansas - with family, community, food, and love.
So, have you been to this epic food festival in Arkansas? We’d love to hear about your experience. And to find out more about the event including schedule, activities, and ticket prices, visit the website.
