I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
There’s no denying that the Ozarks is filled with tons of hidden gems. It’s one of our favorite places to explore, as you never know what treasures are lurking around every turn. Over the years, we’ve fallen in love with so many cascades that we have literally lost count…and today, we are adding another one to our list. Clayton Falls is a tiny waterfall in the Ozarks and though the hike to it might be a bit challenging, the reward is certainly worth the trek. Gather your hiking gear, download AllTrails+, and let’s explore this breathtaking waterfall in Hartford Arkansas to see this tiny cascade.
It might not be Cedar Falls or Hemmed-in-Hollow, but don't let that stop you from exploring Clayton Falls tucked inside the Poteau Mountain Wilderness area.
The 7-mile out-and-back hike to get to this tiny Ozark waterfall is equally as rewarding as the waterfall itself. On the trail, you’ll find some flat well-traversed areas…
...but there are also some rocky parts as well as a few creek crossings along the way. So, we recommend that you wear good hiking boots to prevent slipping...safety first!
Along the way, you'll witness stunning views of the rolling hills of the Ozarks. Also, if you trek during the spring, the trail will be dotted with pretty little wildflowers.
I would recommend taking a dip inside the swimming hole...doesn't it look inviting? The best time to explore Clayton Falls is after a good rain...so you'll want to plan this adventure accordingly.
Have you ever heard of or been on this waterfall hike in Hartford Arkansas? Did you see the tiny but breathtaking Clayton Falls? If so, tell us and share your pictures in the comment section. If you love chasing waterfalls, here are our picks of the most bucket list worthy waterfalls in Arkansas.
And of course, before you leave for this or any other hike in the Natural State, I encourage you to download your free trial of AllTrails+. You’ll have access to trail conditions as well as some cool perks.
