As the third largest city in Arkansas, Fort Smith has a lot to offer. There is incredible art, dining, shopping, as well as lots of historical sites, making it a great place for a day trip. But what you may not know is that you can totally enjoy a European-inspired adventure inside the city.
Yep folks, you can ride a tram, indulge in a warm latte, visit a monastery, savor authentic cuisines, as well as marvel at stunning architecture. To start this trip, let's head to the Artistic Bean, a local café that could arguably be plucked from the streets of Italy.

Housed inside a 5-story Gothic/Tudor Revival-style building is the St. Scholastica Monastery and it's home to the Benedictine Sisters. The stunning architecture as well as the serene grounds, sprinkled with statues and replicas of religious symbols is something that you must witness for yourself. Private tours are available, but you can walk the grounds on your own, while admiring all the beauty of this sacred space.

Of course, by now, you've developed an appetite, so let's continue our day trip quest by savoring a meal at an authentic Italian restaurant. Situated inside a gorgeously restored 1887 medieval European-style mansion is the beloved family-owned eatery Taliano’s Italian Restaurant.
Here you can feast on authentic Italian cuisine that could easily rival a meal from a grandma living in the countryside of Italy.
