J.B. Weisenfels has lived in rural Arkansas for three decades. She is a writer, a mom, and a graduate student. She is also an avid collector of tacky fish whatnots, slightly chipped teapots, and other old things. In her spare time she enjoys driving to the nearest creek to sit a while. If you were to visit her, she'd try to feed you cornbread.
Springtime means a lot of things for Arkansans: gorgeous weather and brilliantly green outdoor spaces, state parks and peaceful hikes. It’s also the time of year when farmers markets pop up all over the Natural State. In fact, there’s probably one in your town or a town right near you. There is one farmers market in the Natural State that is so impressive that you need to put it on your bucket list right away, and that market is the award-winning Fayetteville Farmers Market.
The Fayetteville Farmers Market takes place on the Fayetteville Square, which is a charming spot to hold one of the most well-attended farmers markets in the Natural State.
The market doesn’t only run on Saturdays, either. From April through October you can also visit the market from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Saturday hours are from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If you want to have the full experience of the Fayetteville Farmers Market, you should go on a Saturday. That’s when you’ll be most likely to find street performers and local musicians.
If you’re not already convinced that you should go to the Fayetteville Farmers Market, you’ll probably want to know that in 2012 it was voted Best Large Farmers Market and in 2011 it placed at #5 in the nation in American Farmland Trust’s America’s Favorite Farmers Market Contest.
So if you’re going to visit one farmers market this spring, you should definitely consider the Fayetteville Farmers Market. There just isn’t anywhere else like it.
You may also be interested to know that the Fayetteville Farmers Market proudly accepts SNAP benefits, and you can even double your SNAP dollars at the market thanks to a grant from the Walmart Foundation. You can learn more about that at this link.
