Lost Valley Trail is one of the most popular trails in the Buffalo National River Park. Coming in at 2.2 miles round trip, this hike will exhilarate you no matter when you visit or which season you choose. It’s generally best to go after a heavy rain, however, as the numerous waterfalls are even more spectacular then. The first half of the trail is easy enough that it’s ADA accessible, and there are benches for resting along the first half mile.

To have some solitude, try to visit on a weekday, as this popular trail is heavily trafficked on the weekends. To find this trail from Ponca, travel south on Hwy 43 1.5 miles to the paved turnoff on the right, which is marked with a sign. You’ll find the trailhead parking area about a 1/2 a mile from there.
