I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
Chances are, if you live in the Natural State, you’ve heard of or been to a few of the jaw-dropping caves. And some of them are open to tours and exploration, while others remain closed to the public. But the most interesting caves are usually the ones less explored, and they’re filled with the most adventure. And Blowing Cave in Cushman is one such hidden gem that you must explore for yourself. So, if you’re up for spelunking, get ready for this cave-themed day trip in Arkansas that will blow you away.
Tucked away at the foothills of the Ozarks is the tiny town of Cushman Arkansas. And it’s home to Blowing Cave, one of the most fascinating caverns in the state.
This mysterious cave is open seasonally, and during the year, you can freely explore the cavern on Sundays. Or, you can opt for a private tour with the guide.
Unlike some of the other well-known caves in Arkansas, don’t expect to see paved surfaces or man-made structures. This is a wild cave and if you plan to tour, be sure that you are capable of spelunking.
Legend has it that this mysterious hidden gem has otherworldly human-like beings dwelling on the inside.

Though no one has actually reported seeing these beings in recent years, the folklore is still fascinating and adds to the intrigue of the cave. Additionally, the cavern is also known for its many nocturnal creatures including bats, centipedes, as well as the legendary Albino salamander.
The cave has many crevices to explore, and you’ll be especially blown away by the magnificent underground waterfall. Once you’re done exploring, you’ve probably worked up an appetite.
Established in 1892, this underrated small town was built around a large underground cave, hence the name.
The Crystal River Cave as well as the mysterious river that runs through it, was once the main attraction of the town. And they were operated as part of the oldest motor court in Arkansas.
Unfortunately, the motor court and cave are no longer in operation, but the charming town is still a great place to visit. It boasts having the "world’s sweetest watermelons" and celebrates with a festival every year.
Surely, this small town also has delicious restaurants, and one of which is Buttercup's Kitchen. It's a family-owned restaurant that has amazing desserts.
Best of all, you’ll be rubbing elbows with the locals, so sit back and enjoy the stories about the infamous cave and mysterious river underneath the town.
So folks, if you’re up for a cave-themed day trip in Arkansas, head to Blowing Cave in Cushman. And be sure to drive over to Cave City to eat some delicious down home food and chat with the locals. It will be an adventure unlike any other.
