I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
There is no shortage of hiking trails in Arkansas. In fact, we have some of the most unique hiking trails on this side of the Mississippi. Whether you’re chasing waterfalls, searching for incredible rock formations, or climbing a mountain to witness a scenic overlook, chances are, you’ll find it all in Arkansas. There is one trail that stands out amongst the rest and that is the Pinnacle Mountain West Summit Trail. This rugged trek is the best hike near Little Rock, and you’ll want to experience it for yourself.
Pinnacle Mountain is perhaps the most recognizable natural wonder in Arkansas. As the crown jewel of Pinnacle Mountain State Park, the 1,011-foot pyramid-shaped, rocky structure provides a unique experience for its visitors.
With over 22 miles of hiking and biking trails inside the park, outdoor enthusiasts will have lots to explore. However, today, we're exploring the West Summit Trail, which is a 1.5-mile out-and-back trek that leads to the peak of the mountain.
Though the trail is short, it is one of the most challenging hikes in Arkansas. There is a 750-foot elevation gain and the trail is mostly rocky, so we recommend that you wear hiking boots and use hiking poles for extra support.
And from the summit, you'll witness breathtaking vistas of Lake Maumelle, the Arkansas River Valley, the Ouachita Mountains, as well as West Little Rock. Though the trail is rugged, the reward is worth the trek as this is one of the most scenic overlooks in Arkansas.
Of course, bring the pup and plan to stay to witness the most beautiful sunset you've seen in a while. By far, this is the best hiking trail in Little Rock Arkansas and the stunning views are worth every single step.
