I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
The Ozarks is a playground for folks who love the great outdoors. It has everything we love about Arkansas. Waterfalls, scenic overlooks, unique rock formations, rivers, lakes, forests, mountains, and so much more. And while we can’t explore it all in one day, let’s plan an adventure in the Ozark Plateau, then spend the night in a rustic cabin in Jasper Arkansas.
Calling all our outdoor adventurers in Arkansas!!! Come and explore one of the most gorgeous regions in the Ozarks with us. Featuring rivers, scenic spots, waterfalls and more, you'll experience the best that Arkansas has to offer.
First, let's hike the Big Bluff Goat Trail to witness the breathtaking views of the Buffalo National River. At 550 feet tall, Big Bluff is the tallest bluff between the Rocky and the Appalachian Mountains, and it's also the most impressive. The 5-hour hike is worth every step. Of course, for extra adventure, you can plan a float on the scenic river.
Not too far from the Buffalo National River is another natural wonder in the Ozark Plateau that is worth visiting. The Natural Bridge is a massive arch located at the Alum Cove National Recreation Area. The 130-foot-long formation is the remains of a quartz sandstone cave. A short and easy 30-minute hike will reveal this geological wonder. Be sure to have your camera to capture some incredible images for your collection.
After all that exploration, if you get hungry, there are lots of restaurants in the nearby town of Jasper that we recommend. Sharon K's Cafe serves the best breakfast and lunch in the area. Or, stop by Low Gap Cafe for delicious country-style cookin. You can't go wrong with either restaurant.
You'll need an extra day to explore more of the region, so we found a rustic cabin in Jasper that is the perfect home base for your Ozark adventures. This 2-bedroom secluded cabin is nestled on 12-acres of land across from the Buffalo National River.
Along with basic amenities, the cabin features a fully stocked kitchen, fireplace, a furnished patio with a hot tub, and more. It sleeps 4 people comfortably, so it's perfect if you're traveling with your family.
After a restful night, it's time for more adventures in the great outdoors. Plan a day at the Wilderness Rider Buffalo Ranch & Adventure Park, where you can witness buffalo roaming along the countryside. This unique ATV excursion features 24 waterfalls and offers picturesque views of the natural landscapes of the Ozarks. You can easily spend an entire day exploring the 3,000-acre ranch.
Once you've spent the day on the ranch, we suggest that you return to the cabin for another night of rest. Plus, there is so much more to see and do in the Ozark Plateau that you'll want to stay for as long as possible.
Well, are you ready for your adventure in the Ozark Plateau? If so, visit the VRBO website to secure the secluded cabin in Jasper for a restful sleep after your explorations in the great outdoors.
And if you’re searching for more adventure in the Ozarks, here are some incredible waterfalls that are worth the chase.
