Arkansas native, Carol Ann Carson, has written for OnlyInYourState for three years now. She resides in Western Arkansas' Mountain Frontier but calls NWA home as well. The graduate of University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, Carol Ann earned her B.A. in English and will soon be pursing her M.A. in Library Science. She loves exploring the trails around the Buffalo National River and has yet to find a waterfall that wasn't her favorite.
It was hard to resist covering the Big Bluff along the Buffalo National River, after all at 550-ft. that particular bluff is the tallest sheer bluff face found between the Rocky and Appalachian mountains. However “easy” and “Big Bluff” will never be used in the same sentence unless you’re describing how easy it is to fall off, which is never good for a family hiking trip. So today we’re focused on Signal Hill Trail, the more kid-friendly trail that still takes you to the top of the world. Ignite your little’s inner Arkansas-adventurer as we trek one of the most iconic trails in the state.
The quest to reach the top of the world in Arkansas is a pretty easy trek since the trailhead is well marked and visible from the road.
The turn off for the Cameron Bluff Drive is at the first Mount Magazine State Park parking area.
Regardless if you hike to the tallest point or just take in the sights around the many overlooks, Mount Magazine will make you feel like you're on top of the world.
