The Stacked Rocks In Arkansas' Ozark National Forest Look Like Something From Another Planet
Our state has plenty of weird rock formations from the Arkansas Sphinx to the pedestal rocks at King’s Bluff. The towering monoliths at Stack Rock Scenic Area seem to take you up, up and away to a different planet entirely. Let’s tackle these natural skyscrapers for the rewarding view!

The Stack Rock Scenic Area is about nine miles north of Richland, near Snowball. The drive to this area is not the easiest so be sure to use the maps here before heading out. Once you've arrived at Stack Rock you'll feel like you're on a different planet!

These monoliths have an elevation near 2,000 feet! It's easy to see why this place rivals Sam's Throne for rock climbing adventures. Climbers have plenty of sport and traditional routes to explore and should use this site for more details.

The trail is right under three miles and is an out-and-back trek. It's rated as moderate and not recommended for young hikers. Towards the top of the mountain you'll want to take the path counterclockwise for the easiest scramble.

The most rewarding part of this trek is the out-of-this-world view. Once you've reached the top, take a well-earned break and drink in the endless scenery.
