Arkansas native, Carol Ann Carson, has written for OnlyInYourState for three years now. She resides in Western Arkansas' Mountain Frontier but calls NWA home as well. The graduate of University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, Carol Ann earned her B.A. in English and will soon be pursing her M.A. in Library Science. She loves exploring the trails around the Buffalo National River and has yet to find a waterfall that wasn't her favorite.
It’s hard not to picture one of Arkansas’ hotels or restaurants when thinking of the most romantic spot in the state; however, a much more unique place recently earned that title. Travel + Leisure magazine recently selected the most romantic spot in the state and the beloved Hawksbill Crag (also known as Whitaker Point) was the top pick for Arkansas. We couldn’t agree more with this selection so let’s surprise our significant other by taking a trip to this idyllic area.
Just the drive to reaching Hawksbill Crag is a pleasantly sweet one.
Taking Country Road 5 (also known as Cave Mountain Road) is such a peaceful drive. It's the perfect mood setter for a picnic and hike type of date. If you need directions to reaching Hawksbill Crag, use this map.
You could even sneak a smooch or two behind the waterfall.
Besides earning its recent title for "most romantic," the bluff has also been dubbed the "best place to be proposed to," the "best place to be kissed," and the "most beautiful place in Arkansas."

Even if you didn't bring a special someone along for the hike, you'll definitely fall in love with the view.
We do suggest taking the hike during the week to avoid the typical weekend crowds. That being said, this beloved bluff is simply breathtaking any time of day or year.
