Instead of being focused around a mountain or lake, this historic state park is a culture center featuring the early settler days of the Ozark region. Crafts, music, and culture from 1820 through 1920 are preserved and recreated at the park.

The park reopened to the public on May 19th, 2020. Measures to ensure social distancing and sanitation have been put in place but majority of the park is open. This includes the The Skillet restaurant for take-out and the Cabins at Dry Creek.

The entire park feels like a pioneer festival with it's authentic Ozark aesthetic. Time feels a little slower here, in the most peaceful of ways. "Old-fashioned" isn't merely used to describe the crafts here, it even covers the mule-led carousel!
