Arkansas native, Carol Ann Carson, has written for OnlyInYourState for three years now. She resides in Western Arkansas' Mountain Frontier but calls NWA home as well. The graduate of University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, Carol Ann earned her B.A. in English and will soon be pursing her M.A. in Library Science. She loves exploring the trails around the Buffalo National River and has yet to find a waterfall that wasn't her favorite.
This season the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is featuring quite the winter light show. The North Forest Lights are simply magical! Unfortunately, this outdoor won’t be here permanently so let’s quickly dive into the woods to see this stunning fairyland.
There's no shortage of spectacular features at Crystal Bridges but this one quite possibly tops them all.
The North Forest Lights is completely different than any other exhibit that's ever been at the museum. We recently covered the new Infinity Room but today's feature just might be our favorite.
The outdoor trail is a dazzling mix of sound, light, and sensory experiences that's never the same twice.
The project was a partnership between the museum and Moment Factory, a Canadian-based multimedia studio. Moment Factory was founded in 2001 and has created all sorts of stunning light shows including concerts, halftime shows, and events all around the world similar to North Forest Lights.
We don't want to give away all of the forest's secrets but our favorite portion of the trail was the Whispering Tree. The tree's lights change according to the "color" of your voice. Speaking or singing will alter the colors and the tree reacts differently to everyone.
This once-in-a-lifetime experience won't be at Crystal Bridges forever so be sure to plan a trip this season!
The North Forest Lights will run until February 16th, 2019. The exhibit takes about 45 minutes and begins after sunset. Tickets are $22 for adult non-members ($15 if you are a member), $10 for ages 7-18 (members $7), and free for anyone under 6-years old. Reserve your spot in the forest by visiting Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art's websiteright here.
Have you traveled to the North Forest Lights yet? What was your favorite part of the experience? Share with us in the comments below! We would adore your photos from this outdoor exhibit in our Facebook group, Arkansas Nature Lovers. One unique place to dine after walking through this enchanted forest is at this Gothic-church-turned-restaurant.
