You really wouldn’t expect to find the best chicken near abandoned ruins but that’s exactly where Monte Ne Inn Chicken Restaurant is located. This tucked away restaurant has the most mouthwatering and tender chicken in the state. The whole family will fall in love with the home-style cooking of the Inn.
State-famous fried chicken certainly wouldn't be the first thing that came to mind when picturing abandoned ruins but that's exactly what you'll find near Monte Ne.
For nearly 50 years the Inn has been serving the best fried chicken that's tender and savory. Besides being one of our favorites, the Inn has also won "Best Fried Chicken" by the Democrat Gazette.
Technically there is a menu but it's really not needed.
The family-style restaurant serves all-you-can-eat servings of fried chicken and all the fixin's. The mouthwatering sides include mashed potatoes and gravy, seasoned green beans, sweet corn, cole slaw, baked bread, and heaps of creamy apple butter.
Although you may need to ask your server about all the desserts.
Blackberry or peach cobblers, cheesecakes topped with blueberries or strawberries, or just a bowl of old-fashioned ice cream really makes the dessert decision a tough one.
Monte Ne Inn Chicken Restaurant is the perfect place to tuck in after a day of fishing and learning history at the Monte Ne ruins.
